Women at a higher risk of developing gallstones

According to medical experts, women have a higher chance of developing gallstones compared to men, U-T San Diego reported on September 11.
Experts from the American College of Gastroenterology stated that women aged 20 to 60 have a risk three times greater of developing gallstones compared to men. However, there are other risk factors for women that may influence the likelihood of a gallstone, including ethnicity, family history, numbers of pregnancies, and other medical conditions. The majority of women reportedly are unaware that they have already developed gallstones, and this ignorance can become dangerous if a gallbladder attack occurs. Gallstones, the stone-like deposits in the gallbladder, can only be removed through surgery.
Sadly, many women also suffer gallbladder complications as a result of taking Yasmin and Yaz birth control pills.
