In the second industrial explosion to take place within a week in Pasadena, TX, three people were injured when an explosion and subsequent fire occurred at a chemical storage plant owned by Schultz Container Systems. The Houston Fire Department responded to the incident and two firefighters, as well as one employee of the plant, sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital.
There were approximately 30 employees cleaning containers at the plant when a “flash explosion” of some type of chemical occurred. Firefighters struggled to battle the blaze, as they were unsure of what chemicals were involved in the explosion and following fire. The condition of those injured is not known at this time, and the cause underlying cause of the explosion is still being investigated.
