Refugio — Pedestrian Dies After Getting Struck by 18-Wheeler on U.S. Route 77

Posted on Thursday, March 26th, 2020 at 9:18 pm by Williams Hart

At around 5 a.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2020, a man was killed in an auto-pedestrian accident that occurred near Refugio, Texas.

According to initial reports, Rayhaan Traboulay, 36, was driving a 2013 Hyundai southbound on the U.S. Route 77 when he ran out of gas. He then got out of his car and stood by the driver’s side door on the improved shoulder when he was struck by a 2007 Kenworth semi-trailer truck.

Traboulay was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash still remains under investigation.

It is unfortunate to hear of the death of Rayhaan Traboulay. Alas, there are countless other victims who suffered the same fate. Car accidents are a problem in this day and age, and yet, they still continue to happen on a regular basis. In statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car accidents occur almost every minute of every day, and every 16 minutes, someone dies from a car accident. This can be translated to be about 6 million car accidents every year and about 37,000 people dying from them.

Car accidents are reported to be deadly for pedestrians particularly. The Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) estimates that the number of pedestrian deaths in the U.S. is 6,000 in 2017. This is a 27% increase from 2007 to 2016, and it is said that the number in 2017 is a 25-year high.

Additionally, there are five states that had the most number of pedestrian fatalities in 2017, and these are California, Florida, New York, Arizona, and Texas. These states accounted for about 43% of pedestrian fatalities during the first half of 2017 despite the fact that they are home to only 30% of the U.S. population. The GHSA also claims that children and the elderly are the most vulnerable to this kind of accident.

Moreover, an accident involving a tractor-trailer is another kind of vehicular accident, and it is a deadly one just because of the fact that a tractor-trailer is one of the largest and most dangerous vehicles in the world. It is estimated that there are more than 2 million tractor-trailers roaming in the United States, and each year, they get involved in about 500,000 accidents. And since the size of a tractor-trailer is enormous, the results of this kind of accident are catastrophic, from a severe injury to death.

Vehicular accidents, especially the auto-pedestrian ones and those involving trucks, are quite difficult for the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in truck accidents, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers. They will help you in protecting your rights and in getting you the justice that you deserve.

Armstrong — Woman Dead, Several Others Injured in Rollover Accident on U.S. Route 77

Posted on Monday, February 17th, 2020 at 10:11 pm by Williams Hart

On the morning of Saturday, February 15, 2020, a woman was killed and several other people were injured in a rollover accident that occurred in Kenedy County, Texas.

According to initial reports, a Ford F-150 pickup truck was traveling along the U.S. Route 77, about 16 miles south of Armstrong, when all of a sudden, it experienced a blowout on the passenger’s rear tire. This caused the vehicle to leave the roadway and overturn multiple times before striking a tree.

Magdalena Escobedo, a 43-year-old passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and two other passengers were transported to Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash still remains under investigation.

It is unfortunate to hear of what happened to the victims in this accident. Alas, there are countless other victims who suffered the same fate. Car accidents like this are awfully common nowadays. In statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car accidents occur almost every minute of every day, and every 16 minutes, someone dies from a car accident. This can be translated to be about 6 million car accidents every year and about 37,000 people dying from them.

A particular kind of vehicular accident that is considered to be one of the deadliest is a rollover. A 2010 statistics showed that rollovers comprised only 2.1% of nearly 9.1 million vehicular accidents, but they did account for well over 35% of all deaths. According to numerous studies, about 69% of the people who died from rollovers were not wearing any seatbelts at the time of the accident.

Vehicular accidents, especially those involving rollovers, are quite difficult for the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in car accidents/rollover accidents, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers. Sinton — Motorcycle Crash on U.S. Route 77 Sends Driver to Hospital

Posted on Tuesday, January 14th, 2020 at 4:29 pm by Williams Hart

A motorcyclist was injured in a single-vehicle accident that occurred near Sinton, Texas on Saturday, January 11, 2020.

According to initial reports, the motorcyclist was traveling along the U.S. Route 77, near the Texas State Highway 188 overpass, when all of a sudden, the motorcycle crashed.

The motorcyclist was airlifted to Spohn Hospital in an unknown condition.

The crash still remains under investigation.

It is unfortunate to hear of what happened to the unidentified motorcyclist. Alas, there are countless other victims who suffered the same fate. Vehicular accidents like this are awfully common nowadays. In statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car accidents occur almost every minute of every day, and every 16 minutes, someone dies from a car accident. This can be translated to be about 6 million car accidents every year and about 37,000 people dying from them.

Motorcycle accidents, a type of vehicular accident, are common despite the fact that motorcycles are initially believed to be far less crashworthy than closed vehicles. In 2016, the NHTSA reported that 5,286 people died in motorcycle accidents. In the same year as well, it is reported that motorcyclists were 28 times more likely than passenger car occupants to die in a crash per vehicle mile traveled.

Vehicular accidents, especially those involving motorcycles, are quite difficult for the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in motorcycle accidents, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers. Sarita — 24-Year-Old Man Killed in Rollover Accident on U.S. Route 77

Posted on Tuesday, September 17th, 2019 at 8:03 pm by Williams Hart

At around 2:50 a.m. on Friday, September 13, 2019, a man was killed in a rollover accident that occurred near Sarita, Texas.

According to initial reports, a 2005 Dodge Durango was traveling southbound on the U.S. Route 77, about two miles north of Sarita, when the car’s left rear tire blew out. This caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, and the vehicle then overturned multiple times.

One of the passengers, 24-year-old Gabrael Brito, was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the other occupants of the vehicle were transported to both Kleberg Christus Spohn Hospital in Kingsville and Christus Spohn Shoreline Hospital in Corpus Christi for further treatment. None of the other passengers received life-threatening injuries.

The crash still remains under investigation.

It is unfortunate to hear of the death of Gabrael Brito. Alas, there are countless other victims who suffered the same fate. Car accidents like this are awfully common nowadays. Robinson — Man Dies After Fiery 18-Wheeler Crash on U.S. Route 77

Posted on Tuesday, September 10th, 2019 at 8:01 pm by Williams Hart

At approximately 6:40 a.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2019, a man was killed in a fiery 18-wheeler crash that occurred in Robinson, Texas.

According to initial reports, the Freightliner 18-wheeler, driven by 73-year-old Michael Nelson, was traveling southbound on the U.S. Route 77 when all of a sudden, a tire blew out. As a result, Nelson lost control of the big rig, causing him to slam into the northbound Ford SUV. The big rig then overturned and caught on fire.

Nelson was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver of the Ford was brought to a hospital in critical condition.

The crash still remains under investigation.

It is unfortunate to hear of the death of Michael Nelson. Alas, there are countless other victims who suffered the same fate. Car accidents like this are awfully common nowadays. In statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car accidents occur almost every minute of every day, and for every 16 minutes, someone dies from a car accident. This can be translated to be about 6 million car accidents every year and about 37,000 people dying from them.

A specific kind of car accident that is incredibly deadly is a head-on collision. The reason why a head-on collision is said to be incredibly deadly is because of the increased force that is sustained by both vehicles. Reports estimate that head-on collisions only comprise 2% of reported crashes, but they account for over 10% of driving fatalities. Some of the common outcomes of a head-on collision are spinal injuries, brain injuries, catastrophic injuries, broken bones, paralysis, and of course death.

Additionally, an accident involving a tractor-trailer is another kind of vehicular accident, and it is a deadly one just because of the fact that a tractor-trailer is one of the largest and most dangerous vehicles in the world. Victoria — Woman, 2 Children Injured After Vehicle Crashes into Guardrail on U.S. Route 77

Posted on Monday, September 2nd, 2019 at 8:50 pm by Williams Hart

At approximately 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 1, 2019, a woman and her two children were injured in a single-vehicle accident that occurred in Victoria, Texas.

According to initial reports, a mother was driving with her children, a 4-year-old and a 1-year-old, along the U.S. Route 77 when all of a sudden, she lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a guardrail. All three of them were brought to the hospital, and they are expected to be okay.

The crash still remains under investigation.

It is great to hear that the victims in this accident are expected to recover. However, there are countless other victims who are not as lucky. Car accidents are a problem in this day and age, and yet they still continue to happen on a regular basis. In statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car accidents occur almost every minute of every day, and for every 16 minutes, someone dies from a car accident. This can be translated to be about 6 million car accidents every year and about 37,000 people dying from them.

Moreover, statistics show that about 16% of these car accidents are crashes where the vehicle leaves the road. In this type of car crash, a car would usually collide into a lamppost, a tree, or a building, etc. Lamppost and tree collisions comprise about 31% of fatalities in this type of vehicular accident.

Riviera — 57-Year-Old Man Killed in Wrong-Way Collision on U.S. Route 77

Posted on Tuesday, August 27th, 2019 at 8:03 pm by Williams Hart

At around 1 p.m. on Tuesday, August 27, 2019, a man was killed in a wrong-way collision that occurred near Riviera, Texas.

According to initial reports, Fernando Martinez Ochoa, 57, was driving a 2007 Ford F-150 southbound on the U.S. Route 77 when he crossed over into the northbound lanes. A 2020 Freightliner semi-trailer truck was traveling along the northbound lanes, and though it tried to take evasive action, the pickup ultimately struck the rear-axles of the semi-trailer.

Ochoa was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the driver of the semi-trailer was uninjured.

The crash still remains under investigation.

It is unfortunate to hear of the death of Fernando Martinez Ochoa. Alas, there are countless other victims who suffered the same fate. Car accidents like this are awfully common nowadays. Driscoll — Driver Suffers Medical Episode, Slams Truck into Trailer Home on U.S. Route 77

Posted on Wednesday, August 7th, 2019 at 9:38 pm by Williams Hart

Just after 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2019, the city of Driscoll suffered a loss of power after a significant crash occurred.

According to initial reports, an elderly couple was traveling northbound on the U.S. Route 77, passing FM 665, when the elderly male driver suffered a medical episode. As a result, he then lost consciousness, veered off the road, and slammed into a trailer home. The crash caused an electrical transformer to go down, and an RV trailer was engulfed in flames.

The city of Driscoll temporarily lost power as a result of the crash.

There were people inside the trailer when the vehicle struck the residence. They were brought to a hospital.

The crash still remains under investigation.

It is unfortunate to hear of what happened to the victims in this accident. Alas, there are countless other victims who suffered the same fate. Car accidents like this are awfully common nowadays. In statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car accidents occur almost every minute of every day, and for every 16 minutes, someone dies from a car accident. This can be translated to be about 6 million car accidents every year and about 37,000 people dying from them.

Moreover, it is fairly common to hear about vehicles crashing into buildings. In fact, the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) reported that in 2016, there were 266 cases of this kind of crash in Westchester, Rockland, and Putnam counties. This is an increase from the numbers in 2014 (255) and 2015 (240).

Rob Reiter and Mark Wright also reported in another statistics that of the crashes into buildings that happened between 2014 and 2017 that they gathered, 24% of those were retail stores, 23% commercial buildings, 19% restaurants, and the remainder comprised of convenience stores, offices, and other non-residential buildings. Additionally, they said that the leading causes for these crashes are operator and pedal errors; they account for 30% and 25% of these crashes respectively. An operator error is when the driver accelerated too much or was speeding or was in the wrong gear. Pedal error, on the other hand, is when the driver made the mistake of stepping on the gas pedal instead of the brake.

There are other possible causes and factors for this kind of vehicular crash as well, and these are drunken/distracted driving, traffic accidents, medical emergencies, age, and even the weather (for example, the fog making the roads not visible, or the rain making the road slippery, etc.).

Car accidents are quite difficult for the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in car accidents, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers. Golinda — Woman Dies After Head-On Collision on U.S. Route 77

Posted on Wednesday, April 24th, 2019 at 8:20 pm by Williams Hart

At around 8 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, a woman was killed in a head-on collision that occurred in Golinda, Texas.

According to initial reports, Carol Pruitt, 57, was driving her GMC SUV northbound on U.S. Route 77 when all of a sudden, her vehicle hydroplaned, crossed into the southbound lane, and collided head-on with an oncoming 18-wheeler. She was then pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was brought to a Waco hospital.

Investigation is still ongoing for this accident, and as of right now, authorities believed that weather was a factor in this crash.

It is unfortunate to hear of the death of Carol Pruitt. Alas, she is not the only one whose life is taken away by a car accident. Car accidents like this are awfully common nowadays. Harlingen — Pilot Killed in Crop Duster Crash Near U.S. Route 77-Orphanage Road Intersection

Posted on Wednesday, April 10th, 2019 at 10:35 pm by Williams Hart

At approximately 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, a well-known pilot and businessman from La Sara was killed in a fatal aviation accident that occurred near Harlingen, Texas.

According to initial reports, Bernard Rowland II, 77, was piloting a single-engine crop-dusting aircraft when the aircraft struck a power line near the intersection of U.S. Route 77 and Orphanage Road. Upon impact, the plane caught fire, effectively killing Rowland inside. He was the only occupant onboard.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is now investigating this accident as the cause for the wreck is still unknown.

It is unfortunate to hear of death of Bernard Rowland II. Sadly, he is not the only one whose life is taken away by an aviation accident. Aviation accidents are not as common as the other kinds of vehicular accidents, but it should be noted that though that is the case, airplane and helicopter crashes are significantly a lot more dangerous and devastating when they do happen, simply because of the extreme heights and speeds that are involved with them. Serious physical injuries and emotional and psychological damage are the expected outcomes of an aviation accident.
