A woman was found dead inside a truck that was pulled from a pond in Kemp on Tuesday, April 9, 2019.
According to the Kemp Police Department, officers were called to the pond located at the U.S. 175 westbound access road at Texas State Highway 274 at around 8:23 in the morning. Upon their arrival, they found a vehicle submerged in the pond, and inside the vehicle, they found the body of Jamie Manning, 42, who was reported missing on Monday.
Investigation is still ongoing as officers are trying to determine what caused the crash in the first place.
It is unfortunate to hear of the death of Jamie Manning. Alas, she is not the only one whose life is taken away by a vehicular accident. Vehicular accidents like this are awfully common nowadays. In a statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car accidents occur almost every minute of every day, and for every 16 minutes, someone dies from a car accident. This can be translated to be about 6 million car accidents every year and about 37,000 people dying from them.
That being said, a vehicle plunging into any body of water is not common to see, but it can be fatal when it does happen. This is because in this particular kind of accident, drivers and passengers are trapped inside the vehicle, so the cause of death is more often than not drowning, not really the injuries that are sustained in the crash itself.
Vehicular accidents are quite difficult to the victims and their respective families. They can also be very complicated.
