San Antonio — 19-Year-Old Man Dies After Crashing into Tree on Old Corpus Christi Road

Posted on Tuesday, January 14th, 2020 at 3:39 pm by Williams Hart

At approximately 4:15 a.m. on Sunday, January 12, 2020, a man was killed in a single-vehicle accident that occurred in San Antonio, Texas.

According to initial reports, George Anthony Vasquez, 19, was driving a 2008 Honda Civic westbound on Old Corpus Christi Road when in the 9600 block, he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree along the fence line of a private residence. The Honda then flipped, landing on the roof.

Vasquez was wearing his seatbelt but was pinned inside the vehicle and had to be extracted by firefighters. He didn’t survive his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash still remains under investigation.

It is unfortunate to hear of the death of George Anthony Vasquez. Alas, there are countless other victims who suffered the same fate. Car accidents like this are awfully common nowadays. In statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car accidents occur almost every minute of every day, and every 16 minutes, someone dies from a car accident. This can be translated to be about 6 million car accidents every year and about 37,000 people dying from them.

A particular kind of vehicular accident that is considered to be one of the deadliest is a rollover. A 2010 statistics showed that rollovers comprised only 2.1% of nearly 9.1 million vehicular accidents, but they did account for well over 35% of all deaths. According to numerous studies, about 69% of the people who died from rollovers were not wearing any seatbelts at the time of the accident.

Vehicular accidents, especially those involving rollovers, are quite difficult for the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in car accidents/rollover accidents, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers. They will help you in protecting your rights and in getting you the justice that you deserve.

The man was transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center with life-threatening injuries but was later pronounced dead.

The crash still remains under investigation.

It is unfortunate to hear of the death of the unidentified man. Alas, there are countless other victims who suffered the same fate. Car accidents are a problem in this day and age, and yet, they still continue to happen on a regular basis. In statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car accidents occur almost every minute of every day, and every 16 minutes, someone dies from a car accident. This can be translated to be about 6 million car accidents every year and about 37,000 people dying from them.

Car accidents are reported to be deadly for pedestrians particularly. The Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) estimates that the number of pedestrian deaths in the U.S. is 6,000 in 2017. This is a 27% increase from 2007 to 2016, and it is said that the number in 2017 is a 25-year high.

Additionally, there are five states that had the most number of pedestrian fatalities in 2017, and these are California, Florida, New York, Arizona, and Texas. These states accounted for about 43% of pedestrian fatalities during the first half of 2017 despite the fact that they are home to only 30% of the U.S. population. The GHSA also claims that children and the elderly are the most vulnerable to this kind of accident.

Car accidents, especially the auto-pedestrian ones, are quite difficult for the victims and their respective families. According to initial reports, the man was driving a vehicle southbound on Interstate 37, near Pecan Valley Drive, when for an unknown reason, he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the median of the interstate.

The man was then taken to Brooke Army Medical Center in serious condition.

There were no other reported injuries.

The crash still remains under investigation.

It is unfortunate to hear of what happened to the unidentified man in this accident. Alas, there are countless other victims who suffered the same fate. San Antonio — Driver Knocked Unconscious After Rear-End Collision Involving Bus on Naco Perrin Boulevard

Posted on Wednesday, January 8th, 2020 at 7:27 pm by Williams Hart

On the afternoon of Monday, January 6, 2020, a driver was knocked unconscious after a rear-end collision occurred in San Antonio, Texas.

According to initial reports, a vehicle slammed into the rear of a North East ISD school bus at Naco Perrin Boulevard and Perrin Beitel Road. The driver of the vehicle that slammed into the bus was knocked unconscious as a result of the crash.

No children were inside the bus at the time of the accident.

The crash still remains under investigation.

It is unfortunate to hear of what happened to the unidentified driver in this accident. Alas, there are countless other victims who suffered the same fate. This can be translated to be about 6 million car accidents every year and about 37,000 people dying from them.

A particular kind of vehicular accident that is fairly common in the United States is a rear-end collision. It has been reported that there are about 1.7 million rear-end collisions in the U.S. every year, and from that number, roughly 1,700 people die while another 500,000 are injured. The National Transportation Safety Bureau (NTSB) also notes that 87% of rear-end collisions happened simply because the driver was not paying attention to the road.

Additionally, an accident involving a bus is another particular kind of vehicular accident, and it is fairly common even though buses are often deemed as a safe mode of transportation. According to the NHTSA, between 2000 and 2007, there have been 1,093 fatal bus accidents, and from this number, about 1,315 people died, and 3,471 were injured. In other words, about 137 bus-crash-related fatalities occur every year.

Vehicular accidents, especially rear-end collisions and bus accidents, are quite difficult for the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in car accidents/rear-end collisions, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers. San Antonio — Man Dies After Getting Run Over by 18-Wheeler on Interstate 35

Posted on Sunday, January 5th, 2020 at 5:16 am by Williams Hart

At around 10 a.m. on Friday, January 3, 2020, a man was killed in an auto-pedestrian accident involving an 18-wheeler that occurred in San Antonio, Texas.

According to initial reports, the 19-year-old man was struck and run over by an 18-wheeler on Interstate 35, near Loop 1604. The 18-wheeler did not stop, and police officers are not sure if the driver even realized there was an accident.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The deceased man may have been stowed under the 18-wheeler, but police haven’t been able to confirm that. Witnesses say they saw the body come out from under the truck, and no one that the officers talked to said they saw the man walking next to the road, and no one saw him struck by the truck. Because of this, the officers are looking at the possibility that he came from under the truck.

The GHSA also claims that children and the elderly are the most vulnerable to this kind of accident.

Moreover, an accident involving a tractor-trailer is another kind of vehicular accident, and it is a deadly one just because of the fact that a tractor-trailer is one of the largest and most dangerous vehicles in the world. It is estimated that there are more than 2 million tractor-trailers roaming in the United States, and each year, they get involved in about 500,000 accidents. And since the size of a tractor-trailer is enormous, the results of this kind of accident are catastrophic, from a severe injury to death.

Vehicular accidents, especially the auto-pedestrian ones and those involving trucks, are quite difficult for the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in truck accidents, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers. San Antonio — Driver Falls Asleep, Crashes into House on Mt. Laurel

Posted on Sunday, December 29th, 2019 at 9:56 pm by Williams Hart

Just before 9 p.m. on Sunday, December 29, 2019, a driver crashed into a house in San Antonio, Texas after falling asleep at the wheel.

According to initial reports, the crash happened in the 4000 block of Mt. Laurel. Two people were in the home at the time of the incident. but they were not hurt. No serious injuries were reported in the accident.

The crash still remains under investigation.

It is great to hear that no one was seriously injured in this accident. Sadly, there are countless other victims who are not as lucky.

Moreover, it is fairly common to hear about vehicles crashing into buildings. In fact, the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) reported that in 2016, there were 266 cases of this kind of crash in Westchester, Rockland, and Putnam counties. This is an increase from the numbers in 2014 (255) and 2015 (240).

Rob Reiter and Mark Wright also reported in another statistics that of the crashes into buildings that happened between 2014 and 2017 that they gathered, 24% of those were retail stores, 23% commercial buildings, 19% restaurants, and the remainder comprised of convenience stores, offices, and other non-residential buildings. Additionally, they said that the leading causes for these crashes are operator and pedal errors; they account for 30% and 25% of these crashes respectively. An operator error is when the driver accelerated too much or was speeding or was in the wrong gear. Pedal error, on the other hand, is when the driver made the mistake of stepping on the gas pedal instead of the brake.

There are other possible causes and factors for this kind of vehicular crash as well, and these are drunken/distracted driving, traffic accidents, medical emergencies, age, and even the weather (for example, the fog making the roads not visible, or the rain making the road slippery, etc.).

Car accidents are quite difficult for the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in car accidents, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers.
