Houston — Motorcyclist Dies After Getting Struck by Jeep Liberty on FM 1960

Posted on Sunday, May 19th, 2019 at 9:55 am

At approximately 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2019, a motorcyclist was killed after he was struck by a vehicle in northwest Harris County, Texas.

According to initial reports, the driver of a Jeep Liberty was traveling eastbound on FM 1960 when nearing the intersection of Mills Road, she tried to make a U-turn into the westbound lane. As a result, she struck a motorcyclist who was in the center lane, heading west.

The motorcyclist, who was believed to be around 29 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

The driver of the Jeep, on the other hand, was brought to a hospital with minor injuries.

Investigation is still ongoing for this accident.

It is unfortunate to hear of the death of the unidentified motorcyclist. Alas, he is not the only one whose life is taken away by a vehicular accident. Vehicular accidents like this are awfully common nowadays. In a statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car accidents occur almost every minute of every day, and for every 16 minutes, someone dies from a car accident. This can be translated to be about 6 million car accidents every year and about 37,000 people dying from them.

Motorcycle accidents, a type of vehicular accident, are common despite the fact that motorcycles are initially believed to be far less crashworthy than closed vehicles. In 2016, the NHTSA reported that 5,286 people died in motorcycle accidents. In the same year as well, it is reported that motorcyclists were 28 times more likely than passenger car occupants to die in a crash per vehicle mile traveled.

Vehicular accidents, especially those involving motorcycles, are quite difficult to the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in motorcycle accidents, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers. They will help you in protecting your rights and in getting you the justice that you deserve.

Victoria — Motorcyclist Dies After Rear-Ending Tractor-Trailer on U.S. Route 59

Posted on Thursday, May 16th, 2019 at 10:21 pm

At approximately 9:40 p.m. on Monday, May 6, 2019, a man was killed in a motorcycle accident that occurred in Victoria, Texas.

According to initial reports, Jose Luis Garcia, 34, was operating his 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle when he crashed it into the rear of a tractor-trailer, driven by 45-year-old John Denton, on U.S. 59 Business. Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigation is still ongoing for this accident, and as of right now, the police believed that speed was a factor in this crash.

It is unfortunate to hear of what happened to Jose Luis Garcia. In the same year as well, it is reported that motorcyclists were 28 times more likely than passenger car occupants to die in a crash per vehicle mile traveled.

Another particular kind of vehicular accident that is fairly common in the United States is a rear-end collision. It has been reported that there are about 1.7 million rear-end collisions in the U.S. every year, and from that number, roughly 1,700 people die while another 500,000 are injured. The National Transportation Safety Bureau (NTSB) also notes that 87% of rear-end collisions happened simply because the driver was not paying attention to the road.

Additionally, an accident involving a tractor-trailer is a kind of vehicular accident, and it is a deadly one just because of the fact that a tractor-trailer is one of the largest and most dangerous vehicles in the world. It is estimated that there are more than 2 million tractor-trailers roaming in the United States, and each year, they get involved in about 500,000 accidents. And since the size of a tractor-trailer is enormous, the results of this kind of accident are catastrophic, from a severe injury to death.

Vehicular accidents, especially motorcycle/truck accidents, and rear-end collisions, are quite difficult to the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in motorcycle/truck accidents, rear-end collisions, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers. They will help you in protecting your rights and in getting you the justice that you deserve.
