Houston — Man Killed, 2 Others Injured in Wrong-Way Collision on Interstate 45

Posted on Thursday, December 19th, 2019 at 9:20 pm by Williams Hart

Shortly after 2 a.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2019, a man was killed and two others were injured in a wrong-way collision that occurred near Houston, Texas.

According to initial reports, Fernando Lopez, 23, was driving a silver Chevrolet Impala in the wrong way on the southbound lanes of Interstate 45. He first sideswiped an Infiniti before eventually crashing head-on into a white Dodge Charger.

A passenger in the Charger, identified as 36-year-old Antwon Wallace, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Charger, Shandon Bell, suffered a head injury but is expected to survive.

Lopez also suffered a head injury and was taken to the hospital. He was later charged with intoxication manslaughter.

The driver of the Infiniti was not seriously hurt.

The crash still remains under investigation.

It is unfortunate to hear of what happened to the victims in this accident. Alas, there are countless other victims who suffered the same fate. Car accidents like this are awfully common nowadays. In statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car accidents occur almost every minute of every day, and every 16 minutes, someone dies from a car accident. This can be translated to be about 6 million car accidents every year and about 37,000 people dying from them.

A specific kind of car accident that is incredibly deadly is a head-on collision. The reason why a head-on collision is said to be incredibly deadly is because of the increased force that is sustained by both vehicles. Reports estimate that head-on collisions only comprise 2% of reported crashes, but they account for over 10% of driving fatalities. Some of the common outcomes of a head-on collision are spinal injuries, brain injuries, catastrophic injuries, broken bones, paralysis, and of course death.

Car accidents, especially head-on collisions, are quite difficult for the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in car accidents/head-on collisions, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers. They will help you in protecting your rights and in getting you the justice that you deserve.

Huntsville — 2 People Seriously Injured in Humvee Rollover on Interstate 45

Posted on Tuesday, December 3rd, 2019 at 7:23 pm by Williams Hart

Just after 4 p.m. on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, two people were seriously injured in a rollover accident that occurred in Walker County, Texas.

According to initial reports, a military Humvee was traveling along Interstate 45, between Huntsville and Madisonville, when all of a sudden, it rolled over. Two people inside the vehicle were ejected when it rolled, and they were both flown to hospitals in serious condition.

A particular kind of vehicular accident that is considered to be one of the deadliest is a rollover. A 2010 statistics showed that rollovers comprised only 2.1% of nearly 9.1 million vehicular accidents, but they did account for well over 35% of all deaths. According to numerous studies, about 69% of the people who died from rollovers were not wearing any seatbelts at the time of the accident.

Vehicular accidents, especially those involving rollovers, are quite difficult for the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in car accidents/rollover accidents, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers. Leona — 1 Person Killed, 3 Others Injured in Multi-Vehicle Accident on Interstate 45

Posted on Monday, December 2nd, 2019 at 8:16 pm by Williams Hart

At approximately 1:30 a.m. on Monday, December 2, 2019, one person was killed and three others were injured in a multi-vehicle accident that occurred in Leon County, Texas.

According to initial reports, two 18-wheelers and a passenger car collided into each other on Interstate 45, just south of Leona. The driver of the passenger car was pronounced dead at the scene while a passenger was flown to a Bryan hospital. Meanwhile, the drivers of both 18-wheelers were taken to hospitals for treatment.

The crash still remains under investigation.

It is unfortunate to hear of what happened to the victims in this accident. Alas, they are not the only ones who are affected by a vehicular accident. Vehicular accidents like this are awfully common nowadays. In statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car accidents occur almost every minute of every day, and every 16 minutes, someone dies from a car accident. This can be translated to be about 6 million car accidents every year and about 37,000 people dying from them.

Additionally, an accident involving a tractor-trailer is a kind of vehicular accident, and it is a deadly one just because of the fact that a tractor-trailer is one of the largest and most dangerous vehicles in the world. It is estimated that there are more than 2 million tractor-trailers roaming in the United States, and each year, they get involved in about 500,000 accidents. And since the size of a tractor-trailer is enormous, the results of this kind of accident are catastrophic, from a severe injury to death.

Vehicular accidents, especially those involving trucks, are quite difficult for the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in truck accidents, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers. Houston — Woman Dies After Argument Leads to Crash on Interstate 45

Posted on Sunday, November 17th, 2019 at 7:48 pm by Williams Hart

At approximately 1 a.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2019, a woman was killed in a tragic vehicular accident that occurred in Houston, Texas.

According to initial reports, a man and a woman were traveling in a car on Interstate 45 when they got into a heated argument. The woman, who had been drinking, tried to crawl out of the moving vehicle. As a result, she fell out of the car and onto the highway. An oncoming Chrysler Sedan struck and ran over the woman, killing her.

As the driver of the Chrysler Sedan and the woman’s husband ran over to the woman, a third car crashed into the other two vehicles when it tried to stop abruptly. That driver fled the scene of the crash.

The crash still remains under investigation.

It is unfortunate to hear of the death of the unidentified woman. Alas, there are countless other victims who suffered the same fate. Car accidents are reported to be deadly for pedestrians particularly. The Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) estimates that the number of pedestrian deaths in the U.S. is 6,000 in 2017. This is a 27% increase from 2007 to 2016, and it is said that the number in 2017 is a 25-year high.

Additionally, there are five states that had the most number of pedestrian fatalities in 2017, and these are California, Florida, New York, Arizona, and Texas. These states accounted for about 43% of pedestrian fatalities during the first half of 2017 despite the fact that they are home to only 30% of the U.S. population. The GHSA also claims that children and the elderly are the most vulnerable to this kind of accident.

Car accidents, especially the auto-pedestrian ones, are quite difficult for the victims and their respective families. At approximately 5 a.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2019, several people were injured in a bus vs. 18-wheeler collision that occurred near The Woodlands, Texas.

According to initial reports, a Greyhound bus that was carrying 26 people inside was disabled on the shoulder of Interstate 45, near Lake Woodlands Drive. At around 2:30 a.m., the bus driver called for another bus to pick up passengers. The bus driver did have emergency flashers on and caution triangles in place.

However, about a few hours later, the bus was struck on the rear left side by an Anheuser-Busch “Seed to Sip” 18-wheeler sending debris and bottled water across the lanes of traffic.

21 of the passengers boarded the second bus that was sent to the scene and taken to the bus terminal in Houston. The remaining five passengers were transported to Hermann Memorial The Woodlands Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the 18-wheeler also suffered minor injuries.

The crash still remains under investigation.

Spring — 1 Dead, Another Hospitalized After Vehicle Slams into Pole on North Freeway

Posted on Monday, April 22nd, 2019 at 10:57 pm by Williams Hart

At approximately 2:50 a.m. on Monday, April 22, 2019, one person was dead and another was injured in a crash that occurred in north Harris County, Texas.

According to authorities, a vehicle was traveling northbound on the North Freeway, near Cypresswood Drive in the Spring area, when all of a sudden, it veered off the road and moved down a grass median before slamming into the base of a light pole. Both the driver and his female passenger were trapped inside the vehicle, and firefighters had to extract them. They were then brought to Memorial Hermann The Woodlands where the male driver later died.

Investigation is still ongoing for this accident. Investigators believe that the driver possibly fell asleep, but the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said that they will be doing a toxicology report to determine if alcohol was a factor.

It is unfortunate to hear of the death of the unidentified driver. Alas, he is not the only one whose life is taken away by a car accident. Car accidents are a problem in this day and age, and yet they still continue to happen on a regular basis. In a statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car accidents occur almost every minute of every day, and for every 16 minutes, someone dies from a car accident. This can be translated to be about 6 million car accidents every year and about 37,000 people dying from them.

Moreover, statistics show that about 16% of these car accidents are crashes where the vehicle leaves the road. In this type of car crash, a car would usually collide into a lamppost, a tree, or a building, etc. Lamppost and tree collisions comprise about 31% of fatalities in this type of vehicular accident.

Car accidents are quite difficult to the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in car accidents, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers.
