Beaumont — Pedestrian Dies After Walking in Front of Semi-Truck on Eastex Freeway

Posted on Tuesday, October 1st, 2019 at 9:31 pm by Williams Hart

At approximately 2:30 a.m. on Friday, September 6, 2019, a man was killed in an auto-pedestrian accident that occurred in Beaumont, Texas.

According to initial reports, an 18-wheeler was traveling southbound on the feeder road of Eastex Freeway when all of a sudden, in the 6600 block, David Devon Morris, 39, walked in front of the semi. As a result, Morris was struck by the 18-wheeler, and he was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The crash still remains under investigation.

It is unfortunate to hear of the death of David Devon Morris. Alas, there are countless other victims who suffered the same fate. Car accidents are a problem in this day and age, and yet, they still continue to happen on a regular basis. In statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car accidents occur almost every minute of every day, and every 16 minutes, someone dies from a car accident. This can be translated to be about 6 million car accidents every year and about 37,000 people dying from them.

Car accidents are reported to be deadly for pedestrians particularly. The Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) estimates that the number of pedestrian deaths in the U.S. is 6,000 in 2017. This is a 27% increase from 2007 to 2016, and it is said that the number in 2017 is a 25-year high.

Additionally, there are five states that had the most number of pedestrian fatalities in 2017, and these are California, Florida, New York, Arizona, and Texas. These states accounted for about 43% of pedestrian fatalities during the first half of 2017 despite the fact that they are home to only 30% of the U.S. population. The GHSA also claims that children and the elderly are the most vulnerable to this kind of accident.

Moreover, an accident involving a tractor-trailer is another kind of vehicular accident, and it is a deadly one just because of the fact that a tractor-trailer is one of the largest and most dangerous vehicles in the world. It is estimated that there are more than 2 million tractor-trailers roaming in the United States, and each year, they get involved in about 500,000 accidents. And since the size of a tractor-trailer is enormous, the results of this kind of accident are catastrophic, from a severe injury to death.

Vehicular accidents, especially the auto-pedestrian ones and those involving trucks, are quite difficult for the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in truck accidents, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers. Houston — Man Dies After Van Gets Submerged on Will Clayton Parkway

Posted on Sunday, September 22nd, 2019 at 8:59 pm by Williams Hart

A man was pronounced dead after the van he was driving was submerged in Houston, Texas on Thursday, September 19, 2019.

According to initial reports, the driver of the van was traveling westbound on Will Clayton Parkway when it approached the Eastex Freeway where the floodwater was about eight feet deep. The driver stopped briefly before accelerating into the water. As a result, the van was completely submerged.

The driver was eventually pulled from the submerged van and was brought to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The crash still remains under investigation.

It is unfortunate to hear of the death of the unidentified driver. Alas, there are countless other victims who suffered the same fate. Vehicular accidents like this are awfully common nowadays. In statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car accidents occur almost every minute of every day, and for every 16 minutes, someone dies from a car accident. This can be translated to be about 6 million car accidents every year and about 37,000 people dying from them.

That being said, a vehicle plunging into any body of water is not common to see, but it can be fatal when it does happen. This is because, in this particular kind of accident, drivers and passengers are trapped inside the vehicle, so the cause of death is more often than not drowning, not really the injuries that are sustained in the crash itself.

Vehicular accidents are quite difficult for the victims and their respective families. They can also be very complicated. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in vehicular accidents, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers. They will help you in protecting your rights and in getting you the justice that you deserve.

Houston — Off-Duty Police Officer Injured in Hit-And-Run Accident on Eastex Freeway

Posted on Sunday, August 18th, 2019 at 8:45 pm by Williams Hart

At around 9 p.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2019, an off-duty police officer was injured in a hit-and-run accident that occurred in Houston, Texas.

According to initial reports, the police officer was driving his motorcycle along Eastex Freeway, near Will Clayton Parkway, when he was struck by a white pickup truck. The pickup truck promptly fled the scene, and the officer was transported to the Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the white pickup truck was found because of the witnesses and the evidence found at the scene. As a result, he was arrested and charged with failure to render aid and driving while intoxicated.

The crash still remains under investigation.

It is great to hear that no one was seriously hurt in this accident. Alas, there are countless other victims who are not as lucky. Car accidents like this are awfully common nowadays. In statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car accidents occur almost every minute of every day, and for every 16 minutes, someone dies from a car accident. This can be translated to be about 6 million car accidents every year and about 37,000 people dying from them.

The three common causes of car accidents are speeding, driving while distracted, and DUI (driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol). DUI, in particular, is quite appalling. The NHTSA reports that about 28 people die every day because of drunken driving crashes, and in 2010, 10,228 died in DUI accidents while about 345,000 were injured. All these numbers paint a terrible picture indeed.

Furthermore, motorcycle accidents, a type of vehicular accident, are common despite the fact that motorcycles are initially believed to be far less crashworthy than closed vehicles. In 2016, the NHTSA reported that 5,286 people died in motorcycle accidents. In the same year as well, it is reported that motorcyclists were 28 times more likely than passenger car occupants to die in a crash per vehicle mile traveled.

Vehicular accidents, especially motorcycle and DUI accidents, are quite difficult for the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in car accidents/motorcycle accidents/DUI accidents, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers. They will help you in protecting your rights and in getting you the justice that you deserve.

Humble — Man Killed in Fiery 18-Wheeler Crash on U.S. Route 59

Posted on Sunday, March 31st, 2019 at 11:38 pm by Williams Hart

At around 12:45 a.m. on Friday, March 29, 2019, a man was killed in a fiery 18-wheeler accident that occurred in Humble, Texas.

According to initial reports, an 18-wheeler that was carrying lawnmowers was traveling down on U.S. Route 59, near Townsend Boulevard and Loop 494, when it suddenly struck a barricade between the exit and the main lanes. As a result, the truck flipped over and burst into flames. The driver was still inside the truck when the firefighters arrived to combat the fire, so he was burned and killed in the blaze.

While the firefighters were working to put out the fire, another accident occurred because of rubbernecking, and it involved five vehicles. Some people had to be brought to the hospital, but no other information is released with regards to how many victims were sent or what their injuries were.

The crash still remains under investigation.

It is unfortunate to hear of the death of the unidentified truck driver. Alas, he is not the only one whose life is taken away by a vehicular accident. Vehicular accidents like this are awfully common nowadays.
