Corpus Christi — Bicyclist Killed in Hit-And-Run Accident on Northwest Boulevard

Posted on Wednesday, August 7th, 2019 at 9:53 pm by Williams Hart

At around 7 a.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2019, a bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run accident that occurred in Corpus Christi, Texas.

According to initial reports, John Rice, 30, was riding his bicycle on Northwest Boulevard, near Hill Drive, when he was struck by a vehicle. Rice wasn’t wearing a helmet or a safety vest, and his bicycle was not equipped with lights or reflectors.

Rice’s body was found in a ditch, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash still remains under investigation.

It is unfortunate to hear of the death of John Rice. Alas, there are countless other victims who suffered the same fate. Vehicular accidents like this are awfully common nowadays. In statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car accidents occur almost every minute of every day, and for every 16 minutes, someone dies from a car accident. This can be translated to be about 6 million car accidents every year and about 37,000 people dying from them.

An accident involving a bicycle is a particular kind of vehicular accident, and it is one that is more common than anyone is inclined to think. In fact, the NHTSA reports that roughly 677 people died and about 38,000 were injured in bicycle crashes in 2011. However, since bicycle riders are not required to register their bicycles or get a license, the number of fatalities and injuries may actually be bigger. Additionally, about 90% of all bicycle injuries are never officially reported by police agencies. Because of this, the exact percentage of bicycle accidents, fatalities and injuries because of bicycle accidents will be difficult to determine.

Additionally, another particular kind of vehicular accident that is quite common and deadly is a hit-and-run. According to a study done by roadside-assistance giant AAA, there were 2,049 hit-and-run deaths that occurred in 2016. This number is the highest annual total on record, and in the decade leading up to that number, 682,000 hit-and-run crashes happened each year.

Vehicular accidents, especially bicycle and hit-and-run accidents, are quite difficult for the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in car accidents/bicycle accidents/hit-and-run accidents, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers. Corpus Christi — Man Killed in Drowning Accident in Mustang Island Beach

Posted on Tuesday, July 16th, 2019 at 11:41 pm by Williams Hart

On Sunday, July 14, 2019, a man was pronounced dead after he drowned in a beach in Corpus Christi, Texas.

According to initial reports, Ramon Cortez III, 51, was visiting the Mustang Island Beach with his family and went for a swim. After a while, his family lost sight of him, and they called 911. First responders recovered Cortez and rushed him to Bay Area Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigation is still ongoing for this accident.

It is unfortunate to hear of the death of Ramon Cortez III. Alas, there are countless other victims who suffered the same fate. Drowning accidents like this are relatively common, not just in the United States but also all over the world. According to both the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, drowning is a major public health problem all over the world. They reported that about 360,000 people died from drowning in 2015.

Even just in the U.S. alone, the statistics for drowning fatalities are alarming. From 2005-2014, it was reported that there were an average of 3,536 fatal unintentional drownings annually in the country. That is about ten deaths every day. Additionally, about 332 people died every year from drowning in boating-related accident, and about 1 in 5 people who die from drowning in the U.S. are children 14 years old and younger. And for every child who dies from drowning, another five receive emergency department care for nonfatal submersion injuries.

Moreover, statistics have shown that nearly 80% of people who die from drowning are male while children ages 1-4 have the highest drowning rates. The fatal unintentional drowning rate for African Americans was also significantly higher than that of Caucasians between 1999-2010.

Drowning accidents are quite difficult to the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in accidents like this, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers. Corpus Christi — Driver Dies After Crashing into Water on Labonte Park

Posted on Tuesday, May 14th, 2019 at 9:31 pm by Williams Hart

Just after midnight on Monday, May 13, 2019, the body of a male driver was found in a river near Labonte Park in Corpus Christi, Texas.

According to initial reports, a vehicle was traveling along Interstate 37, heading towards Labonte Park, when all of a sudden, it crashed through a barricade and ended up in the water. The two female passengers were able to get out of the car, but they told the police that they never saw the male driver get out.

On Monday afternoon, the vehicle had been discovered with the body of the driver inside.

An investigation is still ongoing for this accident.

It is unfortunate to hear of what happened to the unidentified man. Alas, he is not the only one whose life is taken away by a car accident.

That being said, a vehicle plunging into any body of water is not common to see, but it can be fatal when it does happen. This is because, in this particular kind of accident, drivers and passengers are trapped inside the vehicle, so the cause of death is more often than not drowning, not really the injuries that are sustained in the crash itself.

Vehicular accidents are quite difficult for the victims and their respective families. They can also be very complicated. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in vehicular accidents, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers. They will help you in protecting your rights and in getting you the justice that you deserve.

Corpus Christi — Rollover Accident on Ocean Drive Injures Man

Posted on Wednesday, May 1st, 2019 at 9:08 pm by Williams Hart

At approximately 11:40 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, one man was hospitalized after a rollover accident that occurred in Corpus Christi, Texas.

According to initial reports, a driver ran a red light at the intersection of Ocean Drive and Elizabeth Street and struck a pickup truck. As a result, the pickup rolled over to its side in the middle of the roadway. The driver of the pickup was then trapped inside the vehicle, and once he was extracted using the Jaws of Life, he was brought to the emergency room of a nearby hospital where he is expected to recover.

Investigation is still ongoing for this accident.

It is great to hear that the man is expected to be okay. Alas, there are countless other victims who are not quite as lucky. Car accidents like this are awfully common nowadays. In a statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car accidents occur almost every minute of every day, and for every 16 minutes, someone dies from a car accident. This can be translated to be about 6 million car accidents every year and about 37,000 people dying from them.

A particular kind of vehicular accident that is considered to be one of the deadliest is a rollover. A 2010 statistics showed that rollovers comprised only 2.1% of nearly 9.1 million vehicular accidents, but they did account for well over 35% of all deaths. According to numerous studies, about 69% of the people who died from rollovers were not wearing any seatbelts at the time of the accident.

Vehicular accidents, especially those involving rollovers, are quite difficult to the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in car accidents/rollover accidents, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers. Corpus Christi — Tire Blowout Causes Vehicle Fire on Texas State Highway 358

Posted on Thursday, April 4th, 2019 at 10:09 pm by Williams Hart

On the afternoon of Thursday, April 4, 2019, a car was engulfed in flames in a highway in Corpus Christi, Texas, and it was responsible for shutting down traffic for well over an hour.

According to initial reports, a female driver was traveling on the westbound lanes of Texas State Highway 358 when all of a sudden, a tire of her SUV blew out, causing her to lose control, hit the guard rail, and spin out of the highway. The vehicle then burst into flames, and the driver managed to escape.

Even though the driver was able to get out of the car on time, she still received some minor burns, and she was brought to Bay Area Hospital. She is expected to be okay.

The crash caused traffic delays, and firefighters reported that the tire blowout was the cause of the fire.

It is great to hear that no one was seriously hurt in this accident. Unfortunately, there are countless other victims who are not as lucky.

There are three most common causes for car accidents, and these are DUI (driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol), speeding, and driving while distracted.

Car accidents are quite difficult to the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in car accidents, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers. Corpus Christi — Truck Crashes into Flour Bluff Apartments

Posted on Wednesday, March 27th, 2019 at 10:55 pm by Williams Hart

A family in Flour Bluff was trapped in their home after a vehicle crashed into their apartment complex on Tuesday, March 26, 2019.

According to firefighters, a truck driven by 44-year-old John Cruz crashed into an apartment complex on Laguna Shores. The collision knocked a sleeping five-year-old from their bed and trapped the family living there inside.

Cruz tried backing out of the complex to leave. However, the police were able to find him by tracking the trail of oil the damaged truck was leaving behind.

No one was seriously injured in this accident.

It is great to hear that no one was critically injured in this scenario. Unfortunately, there are countless other victims who are not as lucky. Vehicular accidents like this are awfully common nowadays. In a statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car accidents occur almost every minute of every day, and for every 16 minutes, someone dies from a car accident. This can be translated to be about 6 million car accidents every year and about 37,000 people dying from them.

Additionally, an accident involving a tractor-trailer is another kind of vehicular accident, and it is a deadly one just because of the fact that a tractor-trailer is one of the largest and most dangerous vehicles in the world. It is estimated that there are more than 2 million tractor-trailers roaming in the United States, and each year, they get involved in about 500,000 accidents. And since the size of a tractor-trailer is enormous, the results of this kind of accident are catastrophic, from a severe injury to death.

Vehicular accidents, especially those involving trucks, are quite difficult to the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in truck accidents, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers. They will help you in protecting your rights and in getting you the justice that you deserve.

Corpus Christi — Man Survives Motorcycle Accident on Texas State Highway 358

Posted on Monday, March 25th, 2019 at 11:38 pm by Williams Hart

At around 9 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2019, a motorcycle accident occurred in Corpus Christi, Texas, and luckily, the man involved only suffered minor injuries.

According to initial reports, a man was driving his motorcycle in the fast lane of Texas State Highway 358 when all of a sudden, he was rear-ended by the car behind him. The impact of the collision caused him to be thrown off the motorcycle and onto the road. Luckily, he only suffered minor injuries and was brought to Bay Area Hospital as a precaution.

It is great to hear that the unidentified motorcyclist only suffered minor injuries in this accident.

Motorcycle accidents, a type of vehicular accident, are common despite the fact that motorcycles are initially believed to be far less crashworthy than closed vehicles. In 2016, the NHTSA reported that 5,286 people died in motorcycle accidents. In the same year as well, it is reported that motorcyclists were 28 times more likely than passenger car occupants to die in a crash per vehicle mile traveled.

Vehicular accidents, especially those involving motorcycles, are quite difficult to the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in motorcycle accidents, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers. Posted on Monday, March 25th, 2019 at 10:43 pm by Williams Hart

A bicyclist suffered minor injuries after he was struck by a vehicle on Saturday, March 23, 2019, in Corpus Christi, Texas.

According to initial reports, Allen Price was riding his bicycle with a group near Shoreline Boulevard and Lawrence Street as he was training for Iron Man Galveston that was coming up in two weeks. A red car was traveling in the same direction as he was, but the driver did not check to see if anyone was coming when he turned onto the Lawrence Street T-head. As a result, he struck Price.

Allen Price suffered road rash on both hands, right arm, and both knees. He also received eight stitches across his chin. Price stated that if he had not been wearing his helmet, his injuries could have been worse. He is now recovering from his injuries.

It is great to hear that Allen Price only suffered minor injuries. Sadly, there are countless other victims who are not as lucky. Vehicular accidents like this are awfully common nowadays. At around 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, 2019, a man was injured in a rollover accident that occurred on John F. Kennedy Memorial Causeway in Corpus Christi, Texas.

According to Corpus Christi Police, a man in his 60s was driving on the westbound side of the JFK Causeway when he lost control of his vehicle and overcorrected, which caused his vehicle to roll over. The man was then ejected from the vehicle and was brought to a nearby hospital where he is now recovering from his injuries.
