A federal court in Chicago recently stated that the Indianapolis-based AndroGel drug maker Eli Lilly and Co. will face a consolidated lawsuit for not informing the public of the potential dangers of ingesting testosterone supplements, the Indianapolis Business Journal reported on June 9.
Judges decided on June 6 to include testosterone supplement maker Eli Lilly and Co. in the class action suit against manufacturers of testosterone-replacement drugs. Aside from Lily, Chicago-based Abbot Laboratories offshoot AbbVie Inc. will be included in the lawsuit. A panel of judges decided to consolidate the cases after the FDA stated that they will conduct another study on the safety of testosterone supplements used by older men. Several studies linked the supplements to heightened risk of stroke and heart attack.
