At around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2019, a bus vs. car collision occurred near Alvin, Texas.
According to initial reports, the Friendswood daycare bus filled with children collided with a Nissan at the intersection of Texas State Highway 35 and Victory Lane. The driver of the Nissan was not seriously injured. The children inside the bus and the driver were also not seriously injured.
However, the bus driver was cited for this collision.
The crash still remains under investigation.
It is great to hear that no one was seriously injured in this accident. Unfortunately, there are countless other victims who are not as lucky. Vehicular accidents are a problem in this day and age, and yet, they still continue to happen on a regular basis. In statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car accidents occur almost every minute of every day, and for every 16 minutes, someone dies from a car accident. This can be translated to be about 6 million car accidents every year and about 37,000 people dying from them.
An accident involving a bus is a particular kind of vehicular accident, and it is fairly common even though buses are often deemed as a safe mode of transportation. According to the NHTSA, between 2000 and 2007, there have been 1,093 fatal bus accidents, and from this number, about 1,315 people died, and 3,471 were injured. In other words, about 137 bus-crash-related fatalities occur every year.
Vehicular accidents, especially bus accidents, are quite difficult for the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in bus accidents, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers.
