Beaumont — Man Killed in Motorcycle Accident on Interstate 10

Posted on Wednesday, May 15th, 2019 at 9:59 pm

Just after 6:30 a.m. on Monday, May 13, 2019, a man was killed in a motorcycle accident that occurred in Beaumont, Texas.

According to initial reports, Stewart Dundee Henderson, 30, was traveling along Interstate 10 when all of a sudden, his motorcycle crashed. He was then pronounced dead at the scene.

Beaumont Police are now investigating the accident, and so far, they have discovered that the motorcycle Henderson was driving was reported stolen out of Houston, and they also found a handgun, cash, and a large quantity of narcotics.

It is unfortunate to hear of the death of Stewart Dundee Henderson. Alas, he is not the only one whose life is taken away by a car accident. Vehicular accidents like this are awfully common nowadays. In a statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car accidents occur almost every minute of every day, and for every 16 minutes, someone dies from a car accident. This can be translated to be about 6 million car accidents every year and about 37,000 people dying from them.

Motorcycle accidents, a type of vehicular accident, are common despite the fact that motorcycles are initially believed to be far less crashworthy than closed vehicles. In 2016, the NHTSA reported that 5,286 people died in motorcycle accidents. In the same year as well, it is reported that motorcyclists were 28 times more likely than passenger car occupants to die in a crash per vehicle mile traveled.

Vehicular accidents, especially those involving motorcycles, are quite difficult to the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in motorcycle accidents, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers. Beaumont — 2 People Shot at 810 South Major Drive

Posted on Friday, February 8th, 2019 at 4:28 am

On Sunday, January 27, 2019, Beaumont Police received two calls in reference to a shooting accident at 810 S. Major Drive and at 8200 block of Lawrence Drive.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the two gunshot victims were gambling over a dice game at 810 South Major Drive when a disturbance occurred. During this disturbance, one of the victims tried to retrieve a handgun from his pocket but lost control of it. The second victim picked up the handgun and tried to use it on the other person. Simultaneously, another person interfered, with another handgun and fired several shots, hitting both victims. One of the victims then fled to a residence at 8200 block of Lawrence Drive where the second call was made.

Both suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

It is unfortunate to hear of what happened to the two victims of this particular shooting accident. Alas, they are not the only ones who have experienced this kind of accident. With about 40% of Americans claiming that they own a gun or that they live in a household with one, being shot by a gun or any other form of firearm is alarmingly common in the U.S. In fact, statistics show that gun violence is considered a leading cause of death in America, with about 124,760 people shot every year (in murders, assaults, suicides/suicide attempts, unintentional shootings, or by police intervention), and from that number, about 35,141 die from gun violence and about 89,620 people survive from it.

Moreover, the chance of dying from gun violence is reported to be about 50% more than the risk of dying while riding inside a vehicle, and it is also 10 times as high as dying from any force of nature, such as earthquakes, hurricanes, and the like. This can be interpreted as Americans more likely to die from gun violence than the combined risks of drowning, fire and smoke, stabbing, choking on food, airplane crashes, animal attacks, and natural disasters. Indeed, this is quite a terrifying picture.

Gun-related accidents are undeniably appalling for the victim and their respective families. So, if you are a victim of shooting/gun violence, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help. The police will always be there for you, but more than that, lawyers, especially those who specialize in gun-related accidents, are always willing to help you in protecting your rights and in getting you the justice that you deserve.

Beaumont — Man Arrested for Aggravated Assault And Sexual Assault

Posted on Friday, February 8th, 2019 at 3:13 am

On Tuesday, February 5, 2019, a woman was assaulted by a man in the 2500 block of Milam in Beaumont.

The unnamed victim reported that she had been shot to her hand between 2 and 4 a.m. by Morris Joseph Broussard, 48, and that Broussard refused to let her seek medical treatment, holding her at the location against her will and sexually assaulted her multiple times. She managed to escape from him and eventually call the police, and Broussard was taken into custody before being brought to the Jefferson County Jail. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated kidnapping, and aggravated sexual assault.

It is unfortunate to hear of what happened to unnamed woman. Alas, she is only one of the very many women whose lives are affected by an aggravated/sexual assault. Violence against women is a serious issue in this day and age, and yet they still continue to happen. In 2005, it was reported that there were 1,181 women who were murdered by an intimate partner. This number suggested that an average of three women die every day.

Moreover, two other kinds of violent acts against women that are alarmingly common are domestic violence and sexual violence. The National Center for Injury Prevention and Control reports that women experience about 4.8 million intimate partner-related physical assaults and rapes every year, and less than 20% of battered women seek medical treatment after an injury. The National Crime Victimization Survey also notes that 232,960 women in the U.S. were raped or sexually assaulted in 2006, which suggests that more than 600 women were raped every day. All these numbers indeed paint a dire picture indeed.

Violent acts against women are undeniably devastating to the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers out there who specialize in cases like these. So, if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers. They will help you in protecting your rights and in getting you the justice that you deserve.
