Abilene — Driver Dies After Veering Off Road, Crashing into Parking Lot of Abilene Christian School

Posted on Thursday, October 10th, 2019 at 8:34 pm by Williams Hart

A man was killed in a single-vehicle accident that occurred in Abilene, Texas on Wednesday, October 9, 2019.

According to initial reports, Phillip Cochran, 39, was driving a Dodge pickup truck northbound on Judge Ely Boulevard when for unknown reasons, his vehicle left the roadway and collided with at least eight vehicles in the parking lot of Abilene Christian School.

Cochran was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Meanwhile, one person, who was sitting in a parked vehicle, was also injured and transported to Hendrick Hospital with undisclosed injuries.

The crash still remains under investigation.

It is unfortunate to hear of the death of Phillip Cochran. Alas, there are countless other victims who suffered the same fate. Vehicular accidents like this are awfully common nowadays. In statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car accidents occur almost every minute of every day, and every 16 minutes, someone dies from a car accident. This can be translated to be about 6 million car accidents every year and about 37,000 people dying from them.

Motorcycle accidents, a type of vehicular accident, are common despite the fact that motorcycles are initially believed to be far less crashworthy than closed vehicles. In 2016, the NHTSA reported that 5,286 people died in motorcycle accidents. In the same year as well, it is reported that motorcyclists were 28 times more likely than passenger car occupants to die in a crash per vehicle mile traveled.

Vehicular accidents, especially those involving motorcycles, are quite difficult for the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in motorcycle accidents, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers. They will help you in protecting your rights and in getting you the justice that you deserve.

Abilene — Man Killed in T-Bone Collision on Industrial Boulevard

Posted on Wednesday, October 9th, 2019 at 9:26 pm by Williams Hart

At around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 8, 2019, a man was killed in a T-bone collision that occurred in Abilene, Texas.

According to initial reports, a Toyota Tundra was traveling eastbound on Industrial Boulevard while a Dodge Ram pickup truck that was hauling a trailer filled with concrete material was traveling along Oldham Lane. The Dodge went through the intersection and T-boned the Toyota Tundra.

After the collision, the Dodge Ram continued south until it hit a utility pole, and snapped in half. The trailer that was filled with concrete broke, hit the cab of the pickup, and caused extensive damage.

The driver of the Dodge had minor injuries. Meanwhile, Francisco Pena, 31, was trapped in the vehicle until being extricated two hours later by the Abilene Fire Department. Pena was then taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The crash still remains under investigation.

It is unfortunate to hear of the death of Francisco Pena. Alas, there are countless other victims who suffered the same fate. Car accidents like this are awfully common nowadays. In statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car accidents occur almost every minute of every day, and every 16 minutes, someone dies from a car accident. This can be translated to be about 6 million car accidents every year and about 37,000 people dying from them.

A particular kind of car accident that is fairly common and also incredibly dangerous is the broadside collision, also known as the T-bone or side-impact collision. This kind of car accident involves a vehicle being hit on its side by the front end of another vehicle. Crash research and analysis of accident data have shown that broadside accidents represent 13% of all car accidents in the United States and that 18% of all fatal car accidents are broadside-style collisions.

Additionally, the NHTSA reported that about 8,000 people are killed every year in this type of accident. And more often than not, if someone is lucky enough to survive this collision, they might suffer from other severe injuries, such as brain injuries, broken bones, internal injuries, and back, neck, and spine injuries. Passengers on the struck side of the vehicle often sustain injuries far worse than those received in rear-end crashes.

Car accidents, especially broadside collisions, are quite difficult for the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in car accidents/broadside collisions, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers. On the afternoon of Thursday, October 3, 2019, a woman was injured in a T-bone collision that occurred in Abilene, Texas.

According to initial reports, the female driver was on Woodard Street, about to pull onto South 27th Street, when her vehicle was struck on the driver’s side by an SUV.

The driver of the car was then extracted from her car by the Jaws of Life and taken to Hendrick with possible head and neck injuries. Her condition is currently unknown.

The driver of the SUV is said to be okay.

The crash still remains under investigation.

It is unfortunate to hear of what happened to the unidentified woman. Alas, there are countless other victims who suffered the same fate. Car accidents like this are awfully common nowadays. Abilene — 89-Year-Old Man Killed in Rear-End Collision on FM 89

Posted on Wednesday, August 28th, 2019 at 8:52 pm by Williams Hart

At around 3:40 p.m. on Tuesday, August 27, 2019, an elderly man was killed in a rear-end collision that occurred just one mile south of Abilene, Texas.

According to initial reports, Sabrina Kirk, 52, was stopped in the southbound lane of FM 89 attempting to make a left turn onto County Road 338. However, her vehicle was struck from behind by a vehicle that was driven by 89-year-old Marvin Guelker.

Guelker suffered major injuries, and he was transported to the Abilene Regional Medical Center where he later died. Kirk, on the other hand, was brought to the ARMC and was later released.

The crash still remains under investigation.

It is unfortunate to hear of the death of Marvin Guelker. Alas, there are countless other victims who suffered the same fate. Car accidents are a problem in this day and age, and yet, they still continue to happen on a regular basis. In statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car accidents occur almost every minute of every day, and for every 16 minutes, someone dies from a car accident. A particular kind of vehicular accident that is fairly common in the United States is a rear-end collision. It has been reported that there are about 1.7 million rear-end collisions in the U.S. every year, and from that number, roughly 1,700 people die while another 500,000 are injured. The National Transportation Safety Bureau (NTSB) also notes that 87% of rear-end collisions happened simply because the driver was not paying attention to the road.

Car accidents, especially rear-end collisions, are quite difficult for the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in car accidents/rear-end collisions, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers. Abilene — Man Seriously Injured in Motorcycle Accident in Front of Abilene High School

Posted on Monday, August 19th, 2019 at 9:39 pm by Williams Hart

Just before 5 p.m. on Friday, August 16, 2019, a man was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident that occurred in Abilene, Texas.

According to initial reports, a small SUV was traveling southbound on Mockingbird Lane and was about to turn into Abilene High School, but when it did, a motorcyclist ran into the side of the car. As a result, he sustained injuries to his leg, and he was brought to the hospital for treatment.

The crash still remains under investigation.

It is unfortunate to hear of what happened to the man in this accident. Alas, there are countless other victims who suffered the same fate. Vehicular accidents like this are awfully common nowadays. Abilene — Female Border Patrol Struck And Killed on Interstate 20

Posted on Wednesday, February 6th, 2019 at 1:22 am by Williams Hart

A female Border Patrol agent was killed after she was struck by a passing vehicle in Abilene on Saturday night, February 2, 2019.

According to initial reports, Agent Donna Doss, 49, was helping the Department of Public Safety (DPS) with the traffic stop on the Interstate 20 frontage road, 1.5 miles west of Tye. She was about to cross the road when she was struck by a passing vehicle. Agent Doss unfortunately died from her injuries.

Hearing the news of the death of Agent Doss is incredibly devastating. Alas, she is not the first victim whose life is taken away by a car accident. Car accidents are a problem in this day and age, and yet, they still continue to happen on a regular basis. In a statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car accidents occur almost every minute of every day, and for every 16 minutes, someone dies from a car accident. This can be translated to about 6 million car accidents every year and about 37,000 people dying from them.

Car accidents are reported to be deadly for pedestrians particularly. The Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) estimates that the number of pedestrian deaths in the U.S. is 6,000 in 2017. This is a 27% increase from 2007 to 2016, and it is said that the number in 2017 is a 25-year high.

Furthermore, there are five states that had the most number of pedestrian fatalities in 2017, and these are California, Florida, New York, Arizona, and Texas. These states accounted for about 43% of pedestrian fatalities during the first half of 2017 despite the fact that they are home to only 30% of the U.S. population. The GHSA also claims that children and the elderly are the most vulnerable to this kind of accident.

Car accidents, especially the auto-pedestrian ones, are quite difficult to the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in car accidents/auto-pedestrian accidents, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers.
