Spring — Driver Under the Influence Causes 5-Car Crash on North Freeway

At around 5 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2019, three people were hospitalized after a DUI chain-reaction crash occurred in Spring, Texas.
Jahson Albert, 24, was driving a vehicle at a high rate of speed along the North Freeway when all of a sudden, he struck three other vehicles, left the road, his two traffic islands, went airborne, and struck a fourth vehicle.
Three people were brought to area hospitals because of the accident, and one of them is reported to be in critical condition.
Meanwhile, Albert was brought to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. His blood work revealed that he was under the influence of marijuana at the time of the accident. As a result, he was charged with felony reckless aggravated assault. His bond was set at $30,000.
The crash still remains under investigation.
It is unfortunate to hear of what happened to the victims in this accident. Alas, there are countless other victims who suffered the same fate. Car accidents like this are awfully common nowadays. In statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car accidents occur almost every minute of every day, and for every 16 minutes, someone dies from a car accident. This can be translated to be about 6 million car accidents every year and about 37,000 people dying from them.
There are three common causes of car accidents, and these are speeding, driving while distracted, and DUI (driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol). DUI, in particular, is quite appalling. The NHTSA reports that about 28 people die every day because of drunken driving crashes, and in 2010, 10,228 people died in DUI accidents while about 345,000 were injured. All these numbers paint a terrible picture indeed.
Car accidents, especially DUI ones, are quite difficult for the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in car accidents/DUI accidents, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers.
