Pueblo, Colorado — 2 People Killed, Several Others Injured in Bus Crash on Interstate 25

Posted on Tuesday, June 25th, 2019 at 8:20 pm by Williams Hart

At around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2019, two people were killed and several others were injured in a bus crash that occurred just north of Pueblo, Colorado.

According to initial reports, the 15-passenger Follow the Sun Inc. charter bus, which was carrying New Mexico Catholic youth confab attendees, was traveling along Interstate 25 when all of a sudden, it ran off the southbound highway lanes and struck a bridge support. The bus driver was ejected and instantly killed, and another occupant was also pronounced dead at the scene. One of the fatalities was identified as Jason Marshall, 53, while officers are still identifying the second victim.

Eleven victims sustained injuries, with five of them suffering serious and critical injuries. The remaining occupants suffered minor injuries only. All of them are transported to hospitals for treatment.

Investigation is still ongoing for this accident.

It is unfortunate to hear of what happened to the victims in this accident. Alas, there are countless other victims who suffered the same fate. Vehicular accidents are a problem in this day and age, and yet, they still continue to happen on a regular basis. In a statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car accidents occur almost every minute of every day, and for every 16 minutes, someone dies from a car accident. This can be translated to be about 6 million car accidents every year and about 37,000 people dying from them.

An accident involving a bus is a particular kind of vehicular accident, and it is fairly common even though buses are often deemed as a safe mode of transportation. According to the NHTSA, between 2000 and 2007, there have been 1,093 fatal bus accidents, and from this number, about 1,315 people died, and 3,471 were injured. In other words, about 137 bus-crash-related fatalities occur ever year.

Vehicular accidents, especially bus accidents, are quite difficult to the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in bus accidents, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers.
