Plainview — 2 People Dead, 1 Injured in Semi-Trailer Accident on U.S. Route 70

Two people were dead and one was injured in a semi-trailer accident that occurred near Plainview, Texas on Monday, June 10, 2019.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), a 2004 Dodge Ram was traveling eastbound on U.S. Route 70, about four miles west of Plainview, while pulling a black semi-trailer loaded with a Bobcat Tractor. Meanwhile, a 1999 Acura with three occupants was traveling westbound on the highway.

The semi-trailer suffered an unknown mechanical failure, and as a result, it became detached from the truck, drifted into oncoming traffic, and crashed into the Acura. The driver of the Acura, 53-year-old Rosalva Dorantes, and the front passenger, 60-year-old Eduardo Dorantes, were both severely injured and brought to University Medical Center. They were eventually pronounced dead.

Meanwhile, the back passenger of the Acura, 18-year-old Mary Dorantes, suffered incapacitating injuries and was brought to a hospital in critical condition.

Investigation is still ongoing for this accident.

It is unfortunate to hear of what happened to the victims in this accident. Alas, they are not the only ones whose lives are taken away by a car accident.
