A University of Washington endocrinologist is seeking in-depth research on the effects of testosterone supplements on older men with “low T” condition, an article by the Los Angeles Times reported on April 28.
Dr. Stephanie Page argued in the British journal Lancet Endocrinology that doctors should acknowledge their limited understanding of the effects of testosterone supplements. Dr. Page urged further study be conducted on the controversial supplements due to recent contradicting conclusions on the effects of this treatment on older men. Just a few months ago, a study that claimed that men who undergo such treatment may suffer from heart-related problems was attacked by other medical experts, who claimed the complex statistical data used in the study was manipulated.
