Pasadena explosion kills one, injures three

One person was killed and three others injured in an explosion that took place at a Pasadena chemical plant, near Houston, this past weekend. According to reports, the explosion occurred on Saturday afternoon at the PeroxyChem Bayport Plant when a contractor’s equipment exploded while performing a “routine function.”
Two of the individuals who were injured in the explosion were taken to the hospital to receive treatment for exposure, while another received treatment for a broken arm. The individual who was killed in the explosion passed away at the plant itself.
Vance Mitchell, spokesman for the Pasadena police, stated that approximately 1,000 gallons of an oil-based cleaning solution were spilled as a result of the explosion, though the exact name of the chemical was not released.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
