Houston Oil Rig Explosion Attorneys

As events over the past few years in the Gulf of Mexico have demonstrated, working on an oil rig is an extremely dangerous job, and if you or a member of your family has been injured in an oil rig accident, you need an attorney on your side with the financial resources and legal experience necessary to take on the biggest companies in the business. Exposure to dangerous substances, proximity to heavy machinery, and a persistent drowning risk confront workers every day. Because of these notable risks, most oil rig workers assume that the companies that employ them are dedicated to their safety, but unfortunately, there are instances in which companies place their own profits ahead of the safety of their workers, exposing them to unsafe conditions and considerable risk.

When companies fail to properly maintain offshore rigs or necessary safety equipment, unsuspecting workers on these rigs are often the ones to pay the price. At Williams Hart, we are dedicated to upholding the rights of injured oil rig workers and their families, and we have a proven history of taking on even the largest oil companies, including BP. We want to put this experience to work for you if you have been affected by an oil rig explosion. To learn more, contact our oil rig explosion lawyers today by calling (800) 220-9341.

Black Elk Energy Co. Oil Rig Explosion

On Friday, November 16, 2012, an oil rig explosion and subsequent fire were reported on a rig located in the Gulf of Mexico off the Louisiana coast that was operated by Black Elk Energy Co. According to the Louisiana governor’s office, the explosion occurred while routine maintenance was being performed on the rig. There were 22 people on board the rig at the time this gulf oil explosion occurred, which left one individual dead, one missing, and several more injured.

Rescue crews have been searching an area near Grand Isle, Louisiana for the missing workers, and officials report that the fire that resulted from this Louisiana oil explosion has been put out and that the rig is structurally sound. An investigation is being conducted to try to determine the full extent of damage resulting from the Black Elk Energy explosion, as well as the cause of the incident.
