Toyota Halts Sales of Recalled Models
In a move that is virtually unprecedented in the automotive industry, Toyota has told its dealers to immediately cease sales of eight different models affected by the sudden-acceleration recall. Furthermore, the car giant is shutting down five production lines until the details of the failure can be ascertained.

While there is a debate over the exact cause of the sudden and uncontrollable acceleration, there is no doubt about the seriousness of the problem. At least 19 people have died in accidents caused by Toyotas suddenly accelerating, and well over 200 people have been injured. While Toyota initially claimed that the problem was due to improperly fitted floor mats, a recall of nearly 4.2 million vehicles did little to stop growing number of complaints. A second recall of 2.3 million vehicles has also failed to correct the issue.
The Toyota sudden acceleration problem is a deadly serious one. If you or someone you love owns a Toyota or Lexus vehicle – even one that is not affected by the recall – you should immediately contact your local dealership.
