Hundreds of women in Australia come forward to sue Yasmin and Yaz’s maker

Over 600 women in Australia showed interest in possibly merging their legal claims to create a class action lawsuit against the multinational drug manufacturer Bayer, claiming they suffered health problems due to using Yasmin and Yaz contraceptives, a report from ABC News stated on Wednesday, January 8. One lawyer expressed optimism that the class action lawsuit claiming the drug manufacturer failed to inform women of the possible health consequences using the birth control pills will move forward.
Many of the women filing claims against the drug manufacturer have suffered health complications such as strokes and blood clots. In fact, according to research conducted in the United States, it was found that the risk of a woman developing blood clot is heightened when using Yasmin or Yaz birth control pills.
