Houston — Pilot, Flight Training Officer Suffer Minor Injuries After Helicopter Makes Hard Landing Near Hobby Airport

Posted on Sunday, July 7th, 2019 at 9:07 pm by Williams Hart   |  Updated: Wednesday, July 31st, 2019 at 8:47 pm

At approximately 8:40 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, 2019, two people received minor injuries in a helicopter accident that occurred in Houston, Texas.

According to initial reports, the Houston Police Department helicopter had to make a hard landing in the 8400 block of Larson Street, near Hobby Airport. There were two people inside the aircraft when it crashed: a pilot and a flight training officer. Both were able to get out of and walk away from the aircraft without serious injuries. They were both evaluated at the scene.

An investigation is still ongoing for this accident.

It is great to hear that the pilot and the flight training officer were not seriously injured in this accident. Unfortunately, there are countless other victims who are not as lucky. Aviation accidents are not as common as the other kinds of vehicular accidents, but it should be noted that though that is the case, airplane and helicopter crashes are significantly a lot more dangerous and devastating when they do happen. This is simply because of the extreme heights and speeds that are involved with them. Serious physical injuries and emotional and psychological damage are the expected outcomes of an aviation accident.

Some of the common causes of aviation accidents are air traffic controller error, negligence by the airline, airplane or helicopter pilot error, pilot intoxication, and helicopter or airplane defects and malfunction.

Aside from the devastating nature of aviation accidents, cases involving them are substantially complex, and as a result, a trusted attorney is needed to help the victim and their family. So, if you are a victim of an aviation accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help. Aviation accident lawyers are more than willing to help you in protecting your rights and in getting you the justice that you deserve.
