Houston — Man Killed in T-Bone Collision on Homestead Road

At approximately 6:05 a.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2019, a man was killed in a fatal T-bone collision that occurred in Houston, Texas.

According to the Houston Police Department, the 27-year-old driver of a black Honda Civic was traveling northbound on Homestead Road, and in the 6500 block, he failed to yield the right of way while making a left turn, and as a result, he was struck by a silver Audi A8 that was traveling southbound. The driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Audi remained at the scene and was determined not to be impaired by the officers.

Investigation is still ongoing for this accident.

It is unfortunate to hear of the death of the unidentified victim. Alas, he is not the only one whose life is taken away by a car accident. Car accidents like this are awfully common nowadays. This kind of car accident involves a vehicle being hit on its side by the front end of another vehicle. Crash research and analysis of accident data have shown that broadside accidents represent 13% of all car accidents in the United States and that 18% of all fatal car accidents are broadside-style collisions.

Additionally, the NHTSA reported that about 8,000 people are killed every year in this type of accident. And more often than not, if someone is lucky enough to survive this collision, they might suffer from other severe injuries, such as brain injuries, broken bones, internal injuries, and back, neck, and spine injuries. Passengers on the struck side of the vehicle often sustain injuries far worse than those received in rear-end crashes.
