Hemphill — Adult, Teenager Killed in Single-Vehicle Accident on Texas State Highway 184

Posted on Tuesday, June 11th, 2019 at 9:25 pm

At approximately 5:15 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2019, an adult and a teenager were killed in a single-vehicle accident that occurred in Sabine County, Texas.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), a car was traveling westbound on Texas State Highway 184, about six miles west of Hemphill, when all of a sudden, the vehicle went off the roadway, struck several trees, and rolled over. It then caught fire and burned.

The driver and a 15-year-old passenger were both pronounced dead at the scene. Two other passengers were transported to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport in an unknown condition.

Investigation is still ongoing for this accident.

It is unfortunate to hear of what happened to the victims in this accident. Alas, they are not the only ones whose lives are taken away by a car accident. Car accidents like this are awfully common nowadays. In a statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car accidents occur almost every minute of every day, and for every 16 minutes, someone dies from a car accident. This can be translated to be about 6 million car accidents every year and about 37,000 people dying from them.

A particular kind of vehicular accident that is considered to be one of the deadliest is a rollover. A 2010 statistics showed that rollovers comprised only 2.1% of nearly 9.1 million vehicular accidents, but they did account for well over 35% of all deaths. According to numerous studies, about 69% of the people who died from rollovers were not wearing any seatbelts at the time of the accident.

Vehicular accidents, especially those involving rollovers, are quite difficult to the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in car accidents/rollover accidents, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers.
