On the morning of Wednesday, April 10, 2019, a man was critically injured after he got involved in a truck accident that occurred in Garland, Texas.
According to initial reports, the driver of a concrete truck took a curve too fast at the interchange of President George Bush Turnpike with Texas State Highway 78, and as a result, the truck toppled over, which caused it to spill a drum of concrete onto the roadway. The driver was trapped inside the vehicle, and firefighters had to spend over an hour to free him. The driver was then airlifted to the trauma unit at Medical City Plano where he was reported to be in critical condition.
Investigation is still ongoing for this accident.
It is unfortunate to hear of what happened to the unidentified driver. Alas, he is not the only one who is affected by a vehicular accident. Vehicular accidents like this are awfully common nowadays. In a statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car accidents occur almost every minute of every day, and for every 16 minutes, someone dies from a car accident. This can be translated to be about 6 million car accidents every year and about 37,000 people dying from them.
Additionally, an accident involving a tractor-trailer is another kind of vehicular accident, and it is a deadly one just because of the fact that a tractor-trailer is one of the largest and most dangerous vehicles in the world. It is estimated that there are more than 2 million tractor-trailers roaming in the United States, and each year, they get involved in about 500,000 accidents. And since the size of a tractor-trailer is enormous, the results of this kind of accident are catastrophic, from a severe injury to death.
Vehicular accidents, especially those involving trucks, are quite difficult to the victims and their respective families.
