Galveston — Car Nearly Flies Off the 4th Floor of Parking Garage at UTMB

Posted on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2019 at 9:59 pm by Williams Hart

A crash nearly sent a car flying off the fourth floor of a parking garage at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas on Sunday, March 31, 2019.

According to initial reports, the accident occurred in garage 9 early in the morning. A silver Honda, the driver of which is revealed to be an employee at UTMB, lost car traction, and as a result, it struck a barrier wall and knocked it into the lot below. Thankfully, though this accident seemed serious, no injuries have been reported.

Investigation is still ongoing for this accident, and repairs are also being made.

It is great to hear that no one was injured in this accident. However, there are countless other victims who are not as lucky. Car accidents are a problem in this day and age, and yet they still continue to happen on a regular basis. In a statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car accidents occur almost every minute of every day, and for every 16 minutes, someone dies from a car accident. This can be translated to be about 6 million car accidents every year and about 37,000 people dying from them.

Moreover, statistics show that about 16% of these car accidents are crashes where the vehicle leaves the road. In this type of car crash, a car would usually collide into a lamppost, a tree, or a building, etc. Lamppost and tree collisions comprise about 31% of fatalities in this type of vehicular accident.

Car accidents are quite difficult to the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in car accidents, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers.
