At approximately 5 p.m. on Sunday, September 22, 2019, a man and a woman were killed in a motorcycle accident that occurred in El Paso, Texas.
According to initial reports, Alexander Todd Warchocki, 21, was driving a 2019 Kawasaki ZX6 motorcycle at a rate of speed on North Mesa Street when a Honda CRV was driving southbound on Mesa, trying to make a left turn into the shopping center. The motorcycle then crashed with the Honda on the passenger side, causing Warchocki and 23-year-old Gladys Juliet Hernandez to be ejected.
Both Warchocki and Hernandez were pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the driver and a 3-year-old in the Honda suffered minor injuries. A 45-year-old man also in the Honda suffered serious injuries and taken to University Medical Center.
The crash still remains under investigation.
It is unfortunate to hear of the death of the unidentified victims. Alas, there are countless other victims who suffered the same fate. Vehicular accidents like this are awfully common nowadays. In statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car accidents occur almost every minute of every day, and every 16 minutes, someone dies from a car accident. This can be translated to be about 6 million car accidents every year and about 37,000 people dying from them.
Motorcycle accidents, a type of vehicular accident, are common despite the fact that motorcycles are initially believed to be far less crashworthy than closed vehicles. In 2016, the NHTSA reported that 5,286 people died in motorcycle accidents. In the same year as well, it is reported that motorcyclists were 28 times more likely than passenger car occupants to die in a crash per vehicle mile traveled.
Vehicular accidents, especially those involving motorcycles, are quite difficult for the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in motorcycle accidents, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers.
