MMA to prohibit testosterone therapy for fighters

Posted on Saturday, March 22nd, 2014 at 10:01 am by Williams Hart

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) sports players are now prohibited from using testosterone therapy by the athletic commission, according to a news report on March 12.

The ban of testosterone therapy for MMA fighters was pushed by the Nevada State Athletic Commission after some aging fighters in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) were allowed to use Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT). The therapy reportedly makes fighters able to be more successful at an older age by slowing the aging process.

Research has shown that persons who used steroids during their younger years may experience low testosterone levels as they get older, therefore resulting in the need for TRT.

Unfortunately, testosterone supplements also heighten the risk of a person having a heart attack or stroke. If you have suffered health problems as a result of using low-T supplements, call (713) 352-7071. Our legal team at Williams Hart can evaluate your situation and possibly help you pursue legal action to get the compensation you need.

Low-T supplements pose a threat to men’s health

Testosterone performs numerous crucial functions for the human body. For men, normal testosterone levels will effectively regulate energy, hair growth, libido, muscle tone, bone mass, and emotional health.

As men age, it isn’t uncommon for testosterone levels to lower. Many men suffer from negative symptoms as a result of lowered testosterone, or “Low T.” Low T can make men susceptible to fatigue, broken bones, weight gain, and hair loss. You can find out more about Low T by clicking here.

Pharmaceutical companies have met the rising demand for testosterone supplements with both oral and topical remedies. In the current market, topical Low T supplements are the most heavily advertised and purchased.

Unfortunately, based on numerous adverse cases, patients and physicians are finding that Low T supplements can cause even more medical complications, like susceptibility to stroke, heart attack, and death. If you have suffered injury from using a testosterone supplement in the Houston area, a lawyer at Williams Hart may be able to help you seek compensation.
