Bryan — Man Found Dead on South College Avenue

Posted on Monday, February 18th, 2019 at 6:14 am by Williams Hart

At approximately 2:15 a.m. on Friday, February 15, 2019, a man was found dead in the middle of the road in Bryan, Texas.

According to Bryan Police Department, officers found Arnulfo Charles, 54, on South College Avenue near Dodge Street. He was promptly brought to CHI St. Joseph Hospital, but unfortunately, he later died there.

Investigators are still waiting for the autopsy results to determine why he died, but they surmise that it is possible he was hit by a vehicle since he was found in the road.

It is unfortunate to hear of the passing of Arnulfo Charles. Alas, he is only one of the very many people who have died because of a car accident. Car accidents like this are awfully common nowadays. In a statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car accidents occur almost every minute of every day, and for every 16 minutes, someone dies from a car accident. This can be translated to be roughly about 6 million car accidents every year and about 37,000 people dying from them.

A particular kind of vehicular accident that is quite common and deadly is a hit-and-run. According to a study done by roadside-assistance giant AAA, there were 2,049 hit-and-run deaths that occurred in 2016. This number is the highest annual total on record, and in the decade leading up to that number, 682,000 hit-and-run crashes happened each year.

Texas has been reported as the 8th worst state for hit-and-run fatalities. This is a fact that is appalling, and something must be done to change that.

Car accidents, especially the hit-and-run ones, are quite difficult to the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in car accidents/hit-and-run accidents, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers.
