Beaumont — High School Student Paralyzed After Single-Vehicle Accident on Brooks Road

Posted on Thursday, July 18th, 2019 at 9:29 pm by Williams Hart   |  Updated: Thursday, July 25th, 2019 at 8:42 pm

At approximately 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2019, a single-vehicle accident occurred in Beaumont, Texas, and it caused one teenager to be paralyzed from the chest down.

According to initial reports, a car occupied by student athletes from West Brook High School was traveling along Brooks Road, near South Major Drive, when all of a sudden, the vehicle hydroplaned, then flipped eight times before hitting a tree and coming to a stop.

Noah Washington, 17, suffered major injuries; his spine was completely disconnected, thus resulting in paralysis from the chest down. In addition to that, he also suffered bleeding in his brain, a broken nose, and the loss of one of his ears.

Meanwhile, Ja’kobi Holland suffered a broken femur, Raybren Morris had a whiplash injury and will have to wear a neck brace for the next few weeks, and Thaddeus Johnson had cuts and bruises along with concussion-like symptoms.

An investigation is still ongoing for this accident.

It is unfortunate to hear of what happened to the victims in this accident. Alas, there are countless other victims who suffered the same fate. Car accidents like this are awfully common nowadays. In statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car accidents occur almost every minute of every day, and for every 16 minutes, someone dies from a car accident. This can be translated to be about 6 million car accidents every year and about 37,000 people dying from them.

Moreover, statistics show that about 16% of these car accidents are crashes where the vehicle leaves the road. In this type of car crash, a car would usually collide into a lamppost, a tree, or a building, etc. Lamppost and tree collisions comprise about 31% of fatalities in this type of vehicular accident.

Car accidents are quite difficult for the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in car accidents, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers.
