Austin — 4 People Hospitalized After CapMetro Bus Crashes into House

Posted on Monday, March 18th, 2019 at 11:06 pm by Williams Hart

At approximately 3 p.m. on Monday, March 18, 2019, a bus crashed into a house in Austin, Texas, and it injured four people.

According to the Austin Fire Department, a Capital Metro bus that was carrying eight passengers hit a pickup truck at the intersection of East 53rd Street and Duval Street before crashing into a house. The driver of the truck was experiencing a medical episode, and he was brought to the hospital. Meanwhile, the bus driver and two passengers were also brought to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

After reviewing camera footage, it has been determined that the bus driver was not at fault in this accident.

It is unfortunate to hear of the victims who suffered injuries in this accident. Alas, they are not the only ones who are affected by a car accident. Vehicular accidents like this are awfully common nowadays. In a statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car accidents occur almost every minute of every day, and for every 16 minutes, someone dies from a car accident. This can be translated to be about 6 million car accidents every year and about 37,000 people dying from them.

An accident involving a bus is a particular kind of vehicular accident, and it is fairly common even though buses are often deemed as a safe mode of transportation. According to the NHTSA, between 2000 and 2007, there have been 1,093 fatal bus accidents, and from this number, about 1,315 people died, and 3,471 were injured. In other words, about 137 bus-crash-related fatalities occur ever year.

Vehicular accidents, especially bus accidents, are quite difficult to the victims and their respective families. Thankfully, there are lawyers that specialize in bus accidents, so if you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help from these lawyers.
