Stephany Duque-Aguilar grew up in Houston, Texas. After receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from The University of Houston, she attended law school at South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas. During this time, she clerked at a Plaintiff’s law firm that focused on Personal Injury cases for two years. After graduating law school, Stephany and her family moved to Katy, Texas where Stephany worked for a solo practitioner who specializes in Family Law and Wills and Estates Administration.
Stephany returned to the personal injury firm she clerked for as an associate attorney and worked there for another two years where she gained extensive litigation experience in all phases. In a short amount of time Stephany gained valuable experience that she was able to bring to the Williams Hart team.
“Family's very important to me. My daughter is one of the biggest reasons why I went to law school because I think it's important for her to see more women empowered. Juggling family and my career has not always been easy but my family has always been my drive.”
Upon joining Williams Hart, Stephany began helping the firm’s lawyers in Puerto Rico bring accountability to the insurance companies following Hurricane Maria’s devastation. Because of her background and language skills, Stephany works with the Puerto Rico lawyers on pre-litigation matters, client communications, and settlement strategy. She is the first point of contact in explaining the complexities of the case with new and prospective clients.
“I'm so passionate about the Puerto Rico docket because we are helping people with their own insurance company who is not doing right by them. They have paid their premiums and expect that when something happens, the insurance will respond and it’s awful when that doesn't happen. I'm really passionate about trying to help people obtain what's fair.”
